Kitchen Color Schemes
Looking for some unique kitchen color schemes? If so, you have come to the right place. While there are many different colors to choose from, some will work better than others in the kitchen.
Many people think that a white kitchen space will really open up the room, and while this may be true white also tends to get really dirty. If you cook a lot, do not pick out a white design. That said, most kitchen color schemes work best if the chosen colors are within the same family. For example, placing yellow, purple, and black together will not create a desirable kitchen, though placing different shades of blue together will create a coordinated look.
As far as the actual shade goes, try to choose something that is food friendly. Not sure what colors will compliment the fine dishes you will be creating? Well, think about your favourite restaurant. What types of hues do they have adorning the dining room? Are there lots of woods, metals, and oranges? Maybe your space would benefit from a sunny yellow color or a nice bright green. Ideally, you want your space to inspire while remaining a room that you wish to spend a lot of time in.
There are literally hundreds of kitchen color schemes that you can come up with, though it is advisable that you seek expert help if you want to do everything from your floors to your cabinets. Why? While things may seem to go together in your mind, they might clash once they are all place next to one another. If you don’t have the budget to spend on a designer, keep one thing in mind: floors, backsplashes, and countertops should all be left neutral (not white, but a neutral, natural, color).
If you keep those big ticket items neutral, you can then change your walls and accessories as you like. If you are still not sure what color to choose, think about the things inside of your kitchen that you love. Do you have a favourite colored pot? Maybe you have a painting that you think will work well in your space. If so, take these items to your local hardware store in order to have the color matched (most stores will gladly mix paint to your specifications).
As you can tell, there are many different kitchen color schemes that deserve a second look. Remember to scope out your favourite restaurant, look to those kitchen items that you adore, and keep those larger items neutral.
