Kitchen Painting Ideas

Looking for some fantastic kitchen painting ideas? If so, forget about those boring old swatches and enter the land of modern food design...

Anyone can pick up a paintbrush and color a wall one opaque color. However, this may be less than inspiring when it comes to a kitchen space. Since you will be creating food inside of this room, you may want to think about spicing things up a bit paint-wise. You see, there are many kitchen painting ideas that top designers keep under the belt – until now, that is. To begin, let’s focus upon the ceiling – you know, that space that most people paint a bold, boring, white?

There is a secret about ceilings that you may not know – they do not have to be white! That’s right, your ceiling can effectively make a space larger of smaller depending upon the way that you paint it. If you have a tall ceiling that you want to bring down a bit, go ahead and paint it a darker color (not too dark, but something a bit darker than you would paint a wall). If you have a smaller ceiling, a light color (such as light blue) will work wonders. Also, while you are at it, why not add some molding to the center of your ceiling space? Now, let’s move on to those walls.

Over the past few years, kitchen painting ideas have really evolved when it comes to the walls inside of your cooking space. Some people love the look of a simple border, though this can seem largely juvenile if not done properly. Likewise, it is best to avoid those really bold colors unless you plan on painting just one accent wall bold orange or ravishing red. Instead, consider doing a faux treatment on your walls (you can create bricks or stones with the proper faux finish), or you may want to keep your walls a simple shade of pale yellow, creamsicle orange, or eggshell.

No matter what color you choose for those walls, remember that you can always hang some decorative art on them to really add some personality. In fact, art is the best way to go when you are trying to create something different – while you can remove art, you are stuck with those colored walls until you change them again.

Before you actually dip that brush into any paint, try and place your kitchen painting ideas onto a piece of paper (you can even color walls with colored pencils). This way, you can be sure that you like the ideas you are considering prior to apply paint. No matter what you do, remember to really make the space your own by adding something that reflects your true personality.
