While Mother Nature may think that she has it all figured out when it comes to serving up superb dishes outdoors, your backyard will have her feeling slightly cheated. Thanks to the many wonderful things that a natural kitchen can bring to your food, you will never want to head inside to cook again (which may not be possible if you live in a cold climate). So, what do outdoor kitchen plans consist of?

Well, there are two ways to approach this new extension to your home. You can buy lots of stainless steel appliances, barbeques, and other interesting cookware, or you can summon the Old West by working with the ground that you have. If you choose to go the former route, you can simply head to your local hardware store and start shopping to your heart’s content. If you like the idea of living the rustic life (for a few months out of the year anyway), your space will need a bit more planning.

First things first, you will need some type of stove. Now, you can do this the way that the ancient Aztecs used to do (build a clay hut that will serve as an oven), or you can have a fire pit built into your ground with a few steel racks on top of it. Most modern home dwellers opt for the second type of outdoor fire simply because it is a lot easier to care for. You will also need some type of counter surface (wood works fine, or you can look into weatherproof counter tops) to work on. Everything else that you will need to create a functional space can be found amidst those outdoor kitchen plans.
